Eligibility
To be eligible, entries must be received on or before April 25, 2010 at 11:59pm EST. All entrants must be a resident of Canada, and must have reached the age of majority according to the laws of the Province where they reside. This contest excludes employees of TELUS Corporation and Motorola, Inc., its affiliated companies or subsidiaries (collectively "TELUS"), its advertising and promotional agencies and members of their respective immediate households and any person domiciled with any of the above.
How to enter
No purchase necessary. Complete and submit the online form which is located at noordinaryphone.com or telus.com/mike. Only one (1) online entry per person will be accepted for the duration of the contest. To enter via the online display advertising, write your ‘Tough Day’ story in 100 words or less, and complete the first name, last name, and email address fields, select the correct company size using the drop down box, check the “Send me emails about business related information from TELUS Business Solutions” check-box (optional) and click the Preview Story button. Once you are redirected to the Confirmation page on the microsite, select an Avatar, check the check box confirming you have read the Rules and Regulations and click the Confirm Entry button. To enter directly via the microsite, write your ‘Tough Day’ story in 100 words or less, and complete the first name, last name, and email address fields, select the correct company size using the drop down box, check the “Send me emails about business related information from TELUS Business Solutions” check-box (optional), select an Avatar and click the Enter Contest button. Once you are redirected to the Confirmation Page, review your entry, check the "I have read the contest rules." Checkbox and click Enter Contest.
Story Guidelines
- topic must be, "Tough Day"
- must be typed in English and be no more than 100 words in length.
- must be the original work of the entrant.
- story cannot have been submitted previously in a contest of any kind or previously published through any means.
Content Restrictions
- must not contain material that violates or infringes another person’s rights, including but not limited to privacy, publicity or intellectual property rights, or that constitutes copyright infringement;
- must not contain material that is hateful, tortious, defamatory, slanderous or libelous;
- must not contain material that promotes bigotry, racism, hatred or harm against any group or individual or promotes discrimination based on race, sex, religion, nationality; disability, sexual orientation or age;
- must not contain material that is unlawful; and
- must not contain obscene or indecent material.
Failure of any Story to comply with the above Guidelines and Restrictions, as determined by Sponsor and/or Judges in their sole discretion, may result in your disqualification from the Contest. No Entry will be acknowledged or returned. Sponsor shall have the right to delete, edit, adapt and publish any or all of the Entry, and may use them in any email or media without attribution or compensation to the Entrant, his/her successors or assigns, or any other entity. Entrants also hereby waive any moral rights they may own in relation to their entry. ENTERING AN ENTRY IN THIS CONTEST CONSTITUTES AN IRREVOCACBLE ROYALTY-FREE WORLDWIDE LICENSE TO SPONSOR TO USE, MODIFY, DELETE FROM, ADD TO, PUBLICLY PERFORM, PUBLICLY DISPLAY, REPRODUCE, TRANSLATE, ADAPT, AND PUBLISH THE REGISTRATION, OR ANY DERIVATIVE THEREOF, IN ALL MEDIA NOW KNOWN OR HEREAFTER DEVISED, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, THE INTERNET, IN PERPETUITY. Sponsor, in its sole discretion, may feature any Entry (including disqualified ones) submitted in this Contest at any time during, or after, the Contest Period on any related websites, email or in any promotional materials, whether related or unrelated to the Contest, and at any other location, whether physical or online, that Sponsor, in its sole discretion, deems appropriate for the operation and promotion of this Contest or otherwise.
All entries that are: incomplete, fraudulent, unreadable, disabled, late, faxed and/or mechanically reproduced, obtained through a non-authorized source or considered as abusive will be automatically refused or considered as void, in matters of the present contest.
THE PRIZE
The awarded prize(s) will consist of:
One (1) MOTOROLA Brute i680 device, valued at $429.99 CAD, per full week the contest runs (8 total = total prize value $3,439.92).
Prize must be accepted as awarded, is not transferable and cannot be exchanged with TELUS for cash. No telephone contact or correspondence will be entered into except with the winning entrant. TELUS reserves the right to substitute the prize which is, in their sole opinion, a prize of equivalent value and/or to terminate or withdraw this contest at any time. The chances of winning are dependent upon the total number of eligible entries received. Prize does not include activation and all activations are subject to a credit check and the TELUS Service Terms.
SELECTION OF WINNERS
A winner will be selected every Monday morning at 11am (Eastern Standard Time) commencing March 8th, 2010 through April 26, 2010 at 11:00 AM (E.S.T.), at the TELUS office situated in the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, by committee of official representatives. The winners will be selected from one (1) of the top five (5) stories entered for that week, with the top five (5) candidates determined by the number of 'views' their stories obtained within that week. In the event of a tie a random draw will take place from all entrants with the same number of votes to determine the top 5 winners. Eight (8) entries will be selected in total. They must have complied in every respect with the contest rules to be declared a winner.
Prize Winners will be selected based on the following criteria ("Judging Criteria"): 1) 40%originality; 2) 40%appropriateness to theme; and 3) 20% writing style. In the event of a tie between two (2) or more Entries, the Entry which received the highest score in the originality category will be deemed the potential Prize Winner. In the event there is still a tie, the Entry which received the highest score in the appropriateness to theme category will be deemed the potential Prize Winner.
The selected winners will be notified by telephone within four business days of the draw and will be sent their prize within two (2) weeks of notification. If the selected entrant cannot be reached within four business days, or if the selected entrant does not meet all of the contest rules, another entrant will be selected from the remaining eligible entries.
The winning entrant of the prize, must sign a standard Release form confirming compliance with the Contest Rules and releasing TELUS and its directors, officers, partnership interest holders, representatives, advertising and promotional agencies from any and all liability arising out of, pursuant to, or as a result of the carrying out of the contest including liability arising from the acceptance of and usage of the prizes as awarded. Forms will be sent our within five (5) business days upon confirmed notification including passing the time-limited mathematical skill-testing question. Failure to comply with the Contest Rules AND to sign and return the Release form within 7 days of receipt will result in disqualification and another entry will be drawn. The chances of winning are dependent upon the total number of eligible entries received.
ENTRIES
All entries become the property of TELUS. TELUS assumes no responsibility for lost, stolen, delayed, damaged or misdirected entries or for any failure of the website, for any problems or technical malfunction of any computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received by TELUS on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from this contest. TELUS reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to change, cancel or suspend this contest should a virus, bug or other cause beyond the reasonable control of TELUS and its advertising and promotional agencies, corrupt the security or proper administration of the contest or for any other reason. Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are illegible, mechanically reproduced, mutilated, forged, falsified, altered or tampered with or unlawful in any way. Entries submitted by unauthorised means or by spamming will be disqualified. In the event that it has been determined that an entry has been made in an manner not sanctioned by these rules and/or an entrant has submitted more than the number of entries permitted by these rules, the entrant and all of his/her entries will be disqualified. Entrants agree to abide by the contest rules and the decisions of the contest judges, which are final. This contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations.
PRIVACY
By entering the contest, entrants consent to the use of their names, city of residence, photograph, voice and/or image for publicity purposes in all media used by TELUS, without payment or compensation. Entrants agree to TELUS’ use of the entrants personal information as described in the TELUS Privacy Commitment located at telus.com.
OTHER
Entrants that are customers of TELUS at the time of entry and/or at the time of prize award must have their TELUS accounts in good standing (with a current account balance that is no more than 30 days past due) in order to be eligible to win the prize.
Any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement; 11. the nature of the skill-testing requirement that a winner has to satisfy in order to claim his prize.
